OUR HISTORY

In August of 1959, Rev. Harold Maynard became pastor of the church. In the early 1960’s he led the church through growth and transition with a new name, a new location in Granite City and a building project.

In that late 1960’s, as the church continued to grow, a larger sanctuary was constructed and added on to the existing building. The former sanctuary became the new home for the growing children’s ministry.

In 1983, Pastor Mark Maynard was added to the staff as Assistant Pastor. He worked side by side with his dad in ministry until 1990, when they traded positions.

Under the leadership of Pastor Mark Maynard, additional land surrounding the current church location was purchased. The name was changed to Calvary Life Church and a new sanctuary, offices, and other meeting spaces were constructed to tie into the existing structures. We’re thankful for the rich heritage of generational blessing that continues to lead us through our mission at Calvary Life Church of building a community of ordinary people who are transformed by the extraordinary life of Jesus.
