Controlled By The Spirit (2-7-10)
Controlled By The Spirit (2-7-10)
Proverbs 25:28
- He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
- NIV - 28 Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.
Admonition or Rebuke?
- Those who are out of control are VULNERABLE to any enemy.
- It isn’t a city without walls, it is a city whose walls have been BROKEN down.
- What enemies?
Case Study: King Saul
- His beginning:
- Selected by God
- Anointed
- Humble
- His downward spiral:
- He got ahead of God
- Incomplete obedience
- Fear and jealousy . . . Murder
- His end:
Spirit Controlled
- Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
- Practical Steps:
- Make your own atmosphere
- Meditate
- Make a “thankful” list
- Romans 8:6 The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace;
7 the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.
8 Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.
9 You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.
- 1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because GREATER is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
