Rev. Mark Maynard | Senior Pastor
Pastor Mark has been the Senior Pastor of Calvary Life Church since 1990. His father, the late Rev. Harold Maynard, started work in the ministry in 1959 and Mark served alongside with him for many years. He met Jill on a blind date and they were married in 1987. Together, Mark and Jill desire to carry on the legacy of building a community of people who are transformed by the life of Jesus Christ.
Mark is active member of the local community. He serves on the Board of Directors for Anderson Hospital, Coordinated Youth and Human Services, and Granite City Area Community Foundation. He is also involved with Agape Minister's Fellowship, Quad City Ministerial Alliance, Granite City Rotary Club and serves as a regional representative for the Independent Assemblies.
With a strong heart for missions, he serves on the Guatemala Evangelistic Ministry board and travels annually for mission’s work.
In his free time, he enjoys a round of golf and making treasures out of reclaimed wood.
Jill MAYNARD | PASTOR of Ministry development
Jill joined the staff of Calvary Life Church in 2016. As the Pastor of Ministry Development, she focuses on the operational development and continuous improvement of our ministries. She worked for many years in marketing, customer service and sales and now brings a unique perspective to the CLC Leadership Team. After many years as the “Pastor’s Wife,” she is now officially serving side by side with Mark to shape the overall vision of the church.
Jill has a heart for people and strives to make CLC a place where everyone loves and feels loved. Her fondness for all things sugary and sweet is second only to a shopping trip to TJ Maxx with her daughters.
Rev. Desi allen | Associate pastor & building operations
Desi joined the staff of Calvary Life in 2016, although he is not new to the CLC church family. He is a dear friend to Pastor Mark and preached many times at CLC over the years. Desi assists in the pastoral ministry, leadership, teaching and day to day operations of Calvary Life Church.
Desi has been in full time ministry for over 43 years, pastoring, evangelizing and church building both in the US and abroad. Aside from Pastor, the favorite title he holds is “Poppy” – he is the proud father of three daughters and seven grandchildren.
rev. Paul 'PJ' Martin | family PASTOR
PJ serves as the Family Pastor of Calvary Life Church, where he has been a member for over 30 years. As the Family Pastor, PJ is the advocate for the generations of the church and ensures that the CLC family is working together to make disciples of the next generation.
For the last 16 years, PJ has served in leadership over the Young Adult Ministry and Missions Development for our church, while also evangelizing and working in the mission field. With degrees in Business Management and Biblical Studies, PJ is equipped for ministry as well as his position as the Branch Manager for the American Eagle Credit Union in Shiloh, IL.
PJ is married to Becky and they have three children. He is passionate about people, Starbucks and a bright shirt with a little extra flair!
carol lindsay | children's ministry director
Carol has served as the Director of Children’s Ministry at CLC for over 40 years. She is the daughter of the late Rev. Harold Maynard. Carol is affectionately known as “Sister Carol” by children and adults alike. She is a true servant in every sense of the word, devoting her time to the work of the ministry and creatively bringing the Bible to life for the children of CLC. Carol stays innovative and current with children’s ministry by maintaining membership with The Fellowship of Christian Magicians and the St. Louis Kids Ministry Network.
Carol retired from a teaching career at Triad High School, where she was head of their Business Department. Carol is an avid collector of shoes and purses. You’ll never find her in an outfit that isn’t perfectly coordinated!
christopher singleton | praise & worship leader
Chris is the praise and worship leader for Calvary Life Church. He is a lifelong member of CLC and has been involved in the music ministry here for most of his life. Chris attended Master’s Commission for an intensive year of ministry and discipleship training. He completed his studies by earning a BA in Theology from Clarion Seminary & School of Ministry. Chris has the heartbeat of God for this church and leads us into engaging praise and worship each week.
Chris is married to Stephanie and they have two young daughters. He also serves as the Chief of Police for Marine, IL, and is a certified K9 police officer. His dog Paco is his third child.
Amy whitehead | administrative assistant
Amy joined the CLC staff in 2016. Prior to joining CLC, she spent 13 years at Wells Fargo Advisors in St. Louis. Amy manages the church calendar, keeping the CLC community informed via print, emails and social media content. She brings new and creative ideas to our ministries and community outreach. Amy is the go to girl for all things happening at Calvary Life Church.
Amy is wife to Matt and mom to Tessa and Tate. Pastor Mark has put Amy in charge of acts of kindness, feats of strength, and minor miracles.
Youth Leadership Team - The "J" Squad
Josh bailey | Youth Leader
Josh began his work in CLC youth ministry as a member of the Firehouse worship band, Audience of One, in 2004. He remained involved during his years at Blackburn College, where he earned a BA in Biology. He now serves as a member of the Youth Leadership Team and is involved with the CLC music ministry team.
Josh also has a heart for missions. He has traveled to Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Guyana, Peru and Ghana, to work with various ministry teams and missionaries.
Josh is also an avid musician. He plays the drums but his first love is the saxophone and he has a CD to prove it.
John 'Big Sassy' Hancock | YOUTH LEADER
John has been involved with Firehouse youth ministry since he was old enough to attend in 2002. Calvary Life Church has been his home church since birth. John answered the call to ministry in 2008 and began taking courses at Destiny Leadership Institute. His passion for youth ministry and technology keep him in pursuit of ongoing education. In addition to be being part of the Youth Leadership Team, John is also a member of the Tech Team at CLC.
John is a Cardinal fan and loves the greats of classic jazz such as the The Rat Pack, Mel Torme`, and Nat King Cole.
